Welcome to GoingTo
GoingTo helps people in Hampton Roads find local events, see what friends are going to, and follow curators who share great picks. GoingTo is run by GoingTo, LLC ("GoingTo", "we", "us").
By creating an account or using goingto.co, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use GoingTo.
Who can use GoingTo
- You must be 18 or older to create an account. Anyone can browse events without one.
- One person per account. Don't share your account or create one for someone else without their permission.
- Use accurate information, including your name and email.
- Keep your login safe. You're responsible for what happens on your account. If you think someone else has access, tell us right away.
- Business, venue and organization accounts are welcome, but they must represent a real organization you're allowed to speak for.
Events on GoingTo
Many events on GoingTo come from public calendars, venue websites and services like Eventbrite. Others are posted by members and curators.
- We work to keep listings accurate, but times, prices, locations and details can change or be wrong. Check with the organizer before you go.
- GoingTo doesn't run these events. The organizer is responsible for the event itself.
- When you buy tickets, you buy them from the organizer or ticket seller, not from GoingTo. Their terms apply to that purchase.
- Listing an event on GoingTo isn't an endorsement of it.
Your content
"Your content" means anything you add to GoingTo: your profile and photo, lists and picks, events you post, and comments.
- You own your content. We don't claim ownership of it.
- You give us permission to show it. By posting, you give GoingTo a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, display, reproduce and share your content to run, improve and promote GoingTo. This includes showing your public picks and lists on share cards and in emails. The license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies kept for moderation, legal reasons or backups for a limited time.
- You're responsible for it. Only post things you have the right to share. Don't post someone else's photos, writing or artwork without permission.
- Events you post must be real, accurate, and something you're allowed to promote.
Conversations
Signed-in members can comment on events and reply to each other.
- Comments are visible to signed-in members only, not to the public.
- Next to a commenter, a "Going" tag shows only to their friends who share RSVPs.
- A conversation closes 7 days after the event ends. You can still read it, but no new comments can be added.
- You can delete your own comments. Deleted and hidden comment text is kept for 90 days for moderation, then erased.
- Keep it about the event, and be kind.
- Anyone signed in can report a comment. We review reports and may hide or remove comments that break these Terms.
What's not allowed
Don't use GoingTo to:
- Harass, threaten, bully or intimidate anyone.
- Post hate speech or attack people for who they are.
- Share someone's private information, like their address or phone number.
- Impersonate a person, business or organization.
- Post spam, scams, or ads unrelated to the event.
- Post illegal, sexually explicit or violent content.
- Post fake events or misleading event details.
- Scrape, copy or collect data from GoingTo in bulk, or use bots to create accounts, follow people or post.
- Get around a block, ban or rate limit, or break into accounts or systems.
- Interfere with GoingTo working normally for others.
Moderation and enforcement
We want GoingTo to feel like a good neighborhood. To keep it that way, we may:
- Hide or remove content that breaks these Terms.
- Limit how often someone can post or follow.
- Suspend or ban accounts, with or without warning, for serious or repeated problems.
We decide these things at our discretion. If you think we made a mistake, email hello@goingto.co and we'll take another look.
Following, friends and privacy
- You can follow people and curators. When two people follow each other, they're friends.
- Your RSVPs are only shown to your friends, and only if you choose to share them.
- You can hide who you follow and who follows you, make your profile private, remove followers, and block people.
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and who can see what.
Emails and notifications
We send account emails, like sign-in links and security notices. We also send notifications and digests, like new followers, conversation replies and weekly event picks. You can turn most of these off in Settings, and every non-essential email has an unsubscribe link.
Curators and paid features
Curators can publish lists and picks for others to follow. GoingTo also offers two paid features:
- Boosts: pay to give an event or list more visibility on GoingTo for a set time.
- Ads: businesses and organizations can buy ad placements.
The price, placement and length are shown before you pay. Payments are handled by a secure payment processor; we don't store your card details. Boosted and paid placements are labeled so members can tell them apart. We may refuse or remove a boost or ad that breaks these Terms. All boost and ad purchases are final and non-refundable, including if an event is changed or cancelled.
Our content and brand
The GoingTo name, logo, design and software belong to us. You can share links to GoingTo and share cards we create for you, but don't copy our design or use our brand in a way that suggests we endorse you.
Disclaimers and limits of liability
- GoingTo is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't promise it will always work, be error-free, or that event information is accurate.
- We aren't responsible for events, organizers, venues, ticket sellers, or what other members post or do, on or off GoingTo.
- To the extent the law allows, GoingTo isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of $100 or what you paid us in the past 12 months.
- You agree to cover GoingTo's costs if a claim against us comes from content you posted or from you breaking these Terms.
Ending your account
You can delete your account any time in Settings or by emailing hello@goingto.co. We may suspend or end your account if you break these Terms. When an account is deleted, its profile and activity are removed. Published events it posted stay on GoingTo under GoingTo's own account, and its comments are replaced with "This comment was deleted." Copies kept for moderation, legal reasons or backups are erased after a limited time.
Changes, law and contact
- We may update these Terms. If a change is significant, we'll let you know by email or in the app before it takes effect. Using GoingTo after that means you accept the new Terms.
- These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Virginia.
- Questions? Email hello@goingto.co.
