Turf Grass Removal/Black Plastic Installed — Mallard Point Buffer Site Prep

REGISTRATION REQUIRED Registration deadline: June 25 This project requires bending and lifting up to 30 lbs. continuously. Join the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's Hampton Roads Urban Restoration Team as we transform 15,946 square feet of turfgrass into a native perennial buffer next to the newly installed living shoreline at Mallard Point. This project will not only provide space for the existing marsh to migrate but will also create a beautiful, low-maintenance meadow for residents to enjoy. Volunteers will use shovels and wheelbarrows to load cut sod into a dumpster, then lay black plastic over the area. Participants must be 18 years or older.
